Killing as a Family FunctionFamily Ties is a female killer typology that involves blood related family members taking part in murderous acts together, either through manipulation or pure willfulness. In many cases, we see the females as the head and brains of the operation. Mothers often manipulate their children to kill for them, such as in the case of Sante Kimes and her son, Kenneth Kimes Jr.
The “Family Ties" category is similar to the “Femme-Fatale" category in that female killers of these categories often use manipulation to coerce others to commit murder for them. |
Pictured above are Sante and Kenneth Kimes, a mother and son who were both convicted for the murder of Irene Silverman and David Kazdin, and a series of other white collar crimes that amounted to over 115 total charges. Throughout her criminal career, Sante Kimes committed almost every white collar crime one could think of, ranging from credit card fraud to forgery. When her son, Kenneth Jr., was born in 1975, she taught him all the tricks of the criminal trade. As Kenneth got older, he began taking part in white collar crime alongside his mother. It is believed that Kenneth Jr. is the one who physically killed Irene Silverman and David Kazdin.
