The Battered Woman typology describes women who kill as a result of the extensive physical and/or sexual abuse they have gone through in the past or are continually going through in their present day lives. Battered women suffer from severe mental, psychological, and emotional issues that may cause them to act out in violence. In the most extreme cases, a battered woman may resort to killing when she is triggered by events relating to her physical or sexual victimization.
